Trainer Journey by Ghislain Preteau

Newly certified trainers, August 2025

My journey with Returning to Spirit began in 2023, at a time when the work itself was growing and changing.

As more men began coming to workshops, there was a clear need for male trainers who could hold space in a way that was steady, respectful, and accountable. I felt called to step into that role, knowing it would require me to do my own healing first.

Over the next two years, I completed fifteen practicum workshops in Indigenous communities. Each one taught me something about responsibility, humility, and what it really means to hold space for others.

Working alongside my wife, Lisa, became an important part of the learning. Co-facilitating as partners allowed participants to see healthy communication, shared leadership, and respect in action. In many communities where relationships have been deeply affected by trauma, seeing that example matters.

In July 2025, after completing all requirements and going through evaluation, I was certified as an RTS Trainer.

This was not the end of the journey.
It was the beginning of a deeper responsibility.

The work continues to challenge me, to teach me, and to strengthen my commitment to this path.
